A taste of Italy
for Switzerland.
Launching Citterio Switzerland on Facebook and creating delicious content.
The situation
.
Giuseppe Citterio Salumificio S.p.A. has been present on Facebook in Italy for years. To make their products better known to the Swiss audience, they wanted a new social media presence with weekly content.
The challenge
.
With the political problem of promoting meat products in a progressive country like Switzerland, the appropriate presentation of the content is one of the biggest challenges. Additionally we have to encourage interaction in a multilingual audience.
The approach
.
Orienting myself on Citterio’s Italian Facebook page and its website, I made an editorial plan with weekly posts focused on engagement and user retention. In constant dialogue with the client, I created visuals and captions that represent Citterio most accurately and that Swiss people can relate to. Each post has to be translated and separated by language. In order to avoid spamming the feed with three languages (German, French, Italian), I restricted the posts by language region and setup the paid campaigns accordingly. To avoid harsh criticism on Citterio’s place in the meat industry, the focus is put mainly on people with interest in cold cuts.
The result
.
After 2 years since the launch Citterio Switzerland has reached 4’000+ Page Likes. Ignoring language variations – of the 145 different posts (as of August 2021) 80 have been created entirely by me; the rest was made by an assisting Italian creative agency or work colleagues. The user base is reactive and engaging.
